Tom Greenall - Insight Climbing Performance Coach

An innovative, driven and transformative performance climbing coach from Great Britain. Tom has been a real driving force behind the development of coaching in the UK since 2005 with his philosophy of “progression through innovation” pioneering new and bold directions within the competition climbing arena.

From coaching at grassroots in climbing centres, Tom has gone on to spend over a decade driving the GB Climbing Team forward, moving from Junior Team Coach to Team Head Coach in 2019.

Tom is widely recognised by the industry as being a highly motivated and collaborative coaching professional with a grounded "process focussed but outcome aware" approach. Some of Tom’s coaching highlights have included coaching athletes like Shauna Coxsey and Molly Thompson Smith to World Cup and European Medal success as well as Olympic Qualification.

Leaving GB Climbing in 2023, Tom now runs his own coaching company Insight Climbing working with indoor, competition and outdoor climbers and mentoring climbing coaches.

He is also the Coaching Development Officer for Mountain Training where he hopes to support other coaches in their careers whilst advocating for coach wellbeing and mental health awareness.

“I wanted a coach who was able to help me cut through the noise, and identify how best to progress my training in terms of skill, as well as physical ability. I have continued with the coaching because the expertise, commitment and detail-orientated approach suits me perfectly, and I can already see the changes in my climbing.”
